On the body of the classic meiping, a vase neck sits at the top, which first narrows continuously and then widens again. At the bottom, a slightly the recessed base.
On the outside, the base ring and mouth lip are delimited by double lines. The neck of the vase remains undecorated.
The depiction on the body of the vase, which is arranged as if on a scroll, is flanked at the bottom by a fully painted wreath of standing leaves and at the top by an equally painstakingly and densely filled collar of floral ruins and banana leaves pointing towards the neck. The main motif: Draped around a rock the classic composition of the “Four Nobles” (bamboo, chrysanthemum, plum, orchid) – buzzing with insects. Birds, including two (quarrelling) birds of paradise enliven the scene.
