About Neiriz Collection
Hamid Sadighi Neiriz
The Neiriz Collection is the multifaceted collection of ancient and modern art of the renowned Berlin art dealer, collector and artist Hamid Sadighi Neiriz. With a deep-rooted passion for history, art and archaeology, Neiriz has dedicated decades to researching, preserving and presenting exceptional works of art from different cultures and eras.
His journey began at a young age: Inspired by European literature and poetry, he left his Iranian homeland at the age of 17 to study art in Berlin. In 1966, he was the youngest student to be accepted at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). During his studies, he deepened his knowledge in close collaboration with the Museum of Islamic Art and continued his archaeological studies at the University of Tehran - where he was actively involved in archaeological excavations under the direction of Professor Ezzatollah Negahban.
Gallery Neiriz was located at the Cumberland House on West Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm
In 1980, together with Karin Pregley Hawkes, he founded the Neiriz Gallery in Berlin, which quickly became one of the leading addresses for non-European art. For three decades, the gallery on Kurfürstendamm presented outstanding exhibits of Islamic and Buddhist art, nomadic weaving from the Middle East, Chinese, Persian and pre-Columbian artefacts, Japanese woodcuts and African and Oceanic tribal art.
»I need to be surrounded by art. A life without art is just unimaginable«.
For Neiriz, art is an essential part of his life. As a collector, he surrounds himself in his home with an extraordinary mixture of antique and modern art from European and non-European cultures – he lives with them, they are part of his everyday life. This close connection not only characterises his work as a dealer and collector, but is also reflected in his own artistic work.
Today, the Neiriz Collection exclusively offers selected works of art from this important collection for sale. These include museum-quality masterpieces of Chinese art – particularly from the Tang Dynasty – Indian sculptures from the Gandhara period, Southeast Asian art from Thailand, Cambodia and Nepal, outstanding pieces of Persian and Islamic art as well as fascinating artefacts from Greek and Roman antiquity.
The Neiriz Collection stands for exquisite works of art with history - for collectors, museums and lovers of unique cultural artefacts.
