Fire-gilded bronze of Shyama Tara – China, Kangxi dynasty, 17th/18th century

Height: 28,7 cm

Superbly cast in gilt bronze, the figure depicts Shyama Tara seated in relaxed lalitasana on a lotus pedestal, adorned with ornate jewelry and celestial scarves. The deity displays varada and vitarka mudras and holds lotus stems blooming beside the shoulders. Amitabha is depicted within the high chignon, identifying the deity as Tara.
