This refined Chokwe mask represents the Mwana Pwo type, embodying the idealized female ancestor figure central to Chokwe ceremonial life. Originating from Angola or the Democratic Republic of Congo, the mask features closed almond-shaped eyes, delicate scarification marks, and an incised forehead emblem.

The preserved fiber and net headdress elements enhance its authenticity and testify to ritual use. The strong cylindrical neck ring and balanced proportions are characteristic of performative Chokwe masks worn in initiation and community ceremonies.
